Upcoming live show with the Stratford Street Big Band
I'll have the pleasure of working with the Stratford Street Big Band again this Saturday the 14'th. The band will be performing for the annual Ronald McDonald house fundraiser at the Little America hotel in downtown Salt lake City.
Last years show was great fun so I'm really looking forward to this years. No such thing as down time...
While it's great to be busy doing shows and recordings one of the side effects is that many other neccesary things get deferred. That was the case for me through January and a bit of February. Had a little "down time" of late and I'm finally getting around to several deffered things. I have lot's of new software and system updates to install (I dont chance that kind of thing while I have projects going). Specifically... Install Cubase 6 and get it running in full 64 bit mode. I run Win7 …
Andy Narell Calypso jazz show
Saturday night's going to be a blast as I'll be doing live sound and recording a show featuring steel drummer Andy Narell. Andy will be coming in from France (he's American born but currently lives in Paris ) and is one of the best steel drummers in the world. He'll be joined by a great backing band (bass, piano, drums and precussion). I sat in on a bit of the rehearsal last night and these guys are really good!
Here's a video link, check him out!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFb7-ApaSLI The show will be in the main auditorium at Jaun Diego Catholic High School at 300 East 11800 South Draper, UT 84020. Show starts at 7pm. Admission is $7 ($5 for students). Return of the Vespers!
What's coming to be known as the "Jazz Vespers house band", specifically Courtney Smith, David Halliday, Steve Lyman and Denson Angulo performed again last night at St. Ambrose church in Salt Lake City. I wasn't sure if I was going to make the show but was able to get there and help out. Had a great time. The band is just so darn good, they all groove off of each other so naturally that it's just pure pleasure to hear! Had a great crowd, and a lot of fun. I'm hoping that these guys will play alot more shows. If you haven't heard them, look for a chance to go. You wont regret it!!
And dont forget, you can purchase the CD of the 2011 Jazz Vespers series here. Go to the Samples page and select the link to 2011 Jazz vespers...or just click HERE! Jazz Vespers season finale and CD release
Did the last Jazz Vespers show of the season tonight. What a crowd, standing room only again with the overflow room pretty much filled as well. A great show again, "Christmas Kool" was the theme and it was that!
We've released a CD with tracks from several of the shows (three B's, Beatles, Bond and Beethoven). Click here to preview the tracks AND purchase the album for download. More to come as we have hours of recordings still to mix. Stay tuned! |
